Description
xVictron VE.Direct Cable 5m
The Victron VE.Direct Cable (5m) connects VE.Direct-compatible devices to each other or to a monitoring interface such as the Color Control GX, Cerbo GX, or a PC via a VE.Direct to USB adapter. It is used by installers and system integrators who need to pass data between Victron components across longer cable runs within a system enclosure or installation.
Key Features
- 5-metre cable length, suitable for installations where components are not in close proximity.
- Uses the VE.Direct proprietary serial communication protocol for reliable data transfer between Victron devices.
- Compatible with a wide range of Victron products including MPPT solar charge controllers, BMV battery monitors, Phoenix inverters, and SmartSolar chargers.
- Terminated with VE.Direct connectors at both ends, ready to use without modification.
- SKU: ASS030530250 | GTIN: 8719076019633 | Weight: 0.185 kg.
Product Overview
VE.Direct is Victron's point-to-point serial communication interface. It carries both data and, on some devices, a small supply voltage. The protocol is used to transmit real-time operating data including state of charge, voltage, current, and fault codes between devices. This makes it the standard wiring method for connecting BMV monitors, MPPT controllers, and Phoenix inverters to a GX device or a laptop running VictronConnect.
The 5m length is the longest standard VE.Direct cable in the Victron range. It is appropriate where the charge controller, battery monitor, or inverter is mounted at a distance from the GX device or monitoring panel. Using the correct cable length avoids unnecessary coiling and keeps installations tidy without requiring custom cable fabrication.

Installation Notes
Ensure both devices are powered down before connecting or disconnecting VE.Direct cables. The VE.Direct port is not designed for hot-swapping under load. Route cables away from high-current DC wiring to avoid interference. Each VE.Direct port supports only one connection at a time; if multiple devices need to connect to a single GX unit, each requires its own dedicated port or a VE.Direct to USB adapter per device.
