Description
xVictron Solar Cable 5m / 4mm² with MC4 Male/Female Connectors (PV-ST01)
This is a pre-terminated 5-metre solar cable from Victron Energy, fitted with MC4-compatible male and female connectors (PV-ST01 type). It is designed for connecting solar panels to combiner boxes, charge controllers or other PV system components, and is suitable for use in both residential and commercial installations.
Key Features
- 5-metre length with 4mm² cross-section, suitable for standard residential and light commercial PV string wiring.
- Pre-fitted MC4-compatible male and female connectors (PV-ST01) at each end, ready for direct connection without additional tooling.
- Double-insulated construction rated for outdoor and rooftop use, with UV-resistant sheathing.
- Designed for DC solar applications, compatible with the voltage and current levels typical of modern PV panels and arrays.
- Supplied by Victron Energy, ensuring consistent quality and compatibility with Victron MPPT charge controllers and other Victron PV system components.
Product Overview
The 4mm² conductor cross-section is a widely used standard for PV string cables in the UK and EU. At this cross-section, the cable handles the current output of most standard solar panels without excessive resistive losses, making it appropriate for runs up to typical panel-to-combiner or panel-to-controller distances. The 5-metre length suits common roof layouts where panels are positioned close to the inverter or charge controller entry point.
The PV-ST01 MC4-compatible connectors are a common industry format, allowing straightforward connection to most solar panels and balance-of-system components that use the MC4 standard. The male and female pairing on a single cable means it can be used as an extension lead or as a direct interconnect between two components in a PV circuit.

Installation Notes
DC solar wiring should be carried out by a qualified electrician or MCS-accredited installer. Ensure the cable rating is appropriate for the short-circuit current of your array before installation. MC4 connectors should only be mated and de-mated using the correct MC4 disconnect tool; do not disconnect under load. For grid-connected systems in the UK, all DC wiring must comply with the requirements of BS 7671 and any applicable G98 or G99 network operator conditions.
