Description
xVictron Skylla-IP65 12/70(3) 120-240V Battery Charger
The Victron Skylla-IP65 12/70(3) is a three-output, 70-amp professional battery charger designed for 12V battery banks in demanding marine, vehicle and industrial applications. Rated IP65, it is built for environments where moisture, dust and vibration are a daily reality. It accepts a wide AC input range of 120 to 240V, making it suitable for use across the UK, EU and North America.
Key Features
- 70A total charge current at 12V across three independently configurable outputs, allowing simultaneous charging of separate battery banks.
- IP65-rated enclosure provides full protection against dust ingress and low-pressure water jets, suitable for exposed or wet environments.
- Wide AC input range of 120 to 240V accommodates shore power, generators and mixed international supply voltages.
- Four-stage adaptive charging algorithm (bulk, absorption, float, storage) extends battery service life and maintains charge health during long-term connection.
- Compatible with lead-acid battery types including flooded, AGM and gel, with configurable charge profiles to match the battery chemistry in use.
- Integrated temperature sensor input allows the charger to compensate charge voltage based on battery temperature, preventing overcharge in warm conditions.
- Compact and robust metal housing with a weight of 6.5 kg, suitable for permanent installation in engine rooms, battery compartments and utility enclosures.
Product Overview
The Skylla-IP65 12/70(3) delivers 70 amps of charge current into a 12V system, split across three outputs. This three-output configuration is particularly useful on vessels or vehicles where the starter battery, domestic bank and a third auxiliary load need to be charged independently from a single charger. Each output can be configured separately, so different battery types or capacities can be managed without cross-contamination of charge profiles.
The IP65 rating is a meaningful specification in this context. Marine bilge areas, engine bays and outdoor enclosures expose equipment to condensation, spray and cleaning water. A charger without adequate ingress protection will degrade quickly in these conditions. The Skylla-IP65 is designed specifically for this environment, with sealed connectors and a fully enclosed housing.
The wide AC input range of 120 to 240V is a practical advantage for vessels and vehicles that move between countries or connect to varying shore power standards. The charger will operate correctly without manual adjustment across this entire range, reducing the risk of damage from incorrect supply voltage.

Installation Notes
The Skylla-IP65 should be installed by a qualified electrician or marine electrical engineer. Connections to AC mains supply must comply with local wiring regulations, including BS 7671 in the UK. For marine installations, compliance with relevant ISO or ABYC standards is recommended. Ensure adequate ventilation around the unit despite its sealed enclosure, as the charger generates heat during operation. Battery cabling must be correctly rated for the 70A output current and appropriately fused at the battery terminals.
