Description
xVictron Quattro 24/8000/200-100/100 230V VE.Bus Inverter Charger
The Victron Quattro 24/8000/200-100/100 is an 8000VA inverter charger designed for demanding off-grid, backup and marine applications operating on a 24V battery bank. It accepts two independent AC inputs, manages source switching automatically, and delivers a continuous 230V AC output with a 200A battery charger built in. It is suited to professional installers specifying high-capacity systems where dual AC source management is a requirement.
Key Features
- 8000VA continuous inverter output at 230V AC from a 24V DC battery bank.
- Dual AC input connections allow simultaneous connection of shore power or grid and a generator, with automatic source selection and transfer.
- 200A battery charger with adaptive charge algorithm adjusts charge current based on battery condition and available AC input capacity.
- Two 100A AC outputs: one with uninterrupted supply (UPS function) and one that can be disconnected under low battery conditions to shed non-critical loads.
- VE.Bus communication port enables multi-unit parallel and three-phase configuration, as well as full integration with Victron GX devices and VRM monitoring.
- PowerControl and PowerAssist functions prevent overloading a limited AC source by drawing supplementary power from the battery when demand exceeds the input limit.
- Compatible with a wide range of battery chemistries including lead-acid (flooded, gel, AGM) and lithium, with configurable charge profiles.
Product Overview
The Quattro range sits above the MultiPlus in Victron's inverter charger lineup by virtue of its dual AC input. Where a MultiPlus accepts a single AC source, the Quattro manages two independently, switching between them based on availability and priority. In practice this means a system can be wired to both a grid connection and a generator without any manual intervention or external transfer switch. The unit monitors both inputs continuously and transfers within 20 milliseconds, which is fast enough to maintain operation of most sensitive equipment.
At 8000VA on a 24V bank, this unit is positioned for larger off-grid cabins, mobile command units, large marine vessels, and commercial backup installations where load demand is substantial. The 200A charge current allows a large battery bank to be recharged quickly when AC power is available. The PowerAssist function is particularly useful in shore power or generator scenarios where the available AC current is limited: the Quattro supplements the incoming supply with battery power rather than tripping the source breaker.
VE.Bus connectivity means multiple Quattro units can be configured in parallel for increased output current, or in split-phase and three-phase arrangements for larger installations. Configuration and monitoring are handled through Victron's VictronConnect app or via a GX device connected to the VRM portal. The two AC output rails give the installer control over load prioritisation, allowing critical circuits to remain live during low battery events while shedding secondary loads automatically.

- Victron Quattro 24/8000/200-100/100 230V VE.Bus inverter charger unit.
Installation Notes
The Quattro 24/8000/200-100/100 operates at high DC current levels and weighs 41 kg. Installation must be carried out by a qualified electrician or accredited installer with experience in inverter charger systems. All DC cabling, fusing and battery connections must be rated appropriately for the current demands of an 8000VA unit on a 24V bank. For any grid-connected application in the UK, compliance with G98 or G99 (depending on export capacity and DNO requirements) must be confirmed before commissioning. Lithium battery installations require correct charge profile configuration via VE.Bus before the system is energised. Adequate ventilation must be provided at the installation location.
