Description
xVictron Quattro 24/3000/70-50/50 230V VE.Bus Inverter Charger
The Victron Quattro 24/3000/70-50/50 is a combined inverter and dual-input battery charger designed for off-grid, marine, vehicle and backup power installations. It accepts two separate AC inputs, manages power sources automatically, and delivers 3000VA of continuous AC output from a 24V battery bank. It is aimed at professional installers working on systems that require reliable source switching and robust charging capability.
Key Features
- Dual AC input connections allow simultaneous connection of two sources, such as shore power and a generator, with automatic switching between them.
- 3000VA continuous inverter output at 230V AC, suitable for powering standard single-phase loads.
- 70A multi-stage battery charger with adaptive charge algorithm, operating from a 24V battery bank.
- Two 50A AC pass-through outputs allow direct load connection from whichever AC input is active, without drawing from the battery.
- PowerControl and PowerAssist functions limit total current draw from an AC source and supplement it with battery power when loads exceed the input limit.
- VE.Bus communication interface enables system integration with Victron GX devices, remote monitoring via VRM, and multi-unit parallel or three-phase configuration.
- Virtually no transfer time when switching from inverter to AC input, making it suitable for sensitive equipment.
Product Overview
The Quattro differs from a standard inverter charger by providing two independent AC inputs rather than one. In practice, this means you can wire shore power to input 1 and a generator to input 2. The unit monitors both sources and switches to whichever is available, with input 1 taking priority. If neither source is present, it inverts from the battery automatically. This removes the need for manual changeover switches and reduces the risk of back-feeding a generator or shore supply.
PowerAssist is particularly useful in installations where the available AC supply is limited, such as a marina berth with a 16A shore connection or a small generator. When loads exceed what the input can supply, the Quattro draws the difference from the battery rather than tripping the supply breaker. This allows a 24V system to support peak loads that would otherwise require a larger generator or supply circuit.
VE.Bus connectivity means the Quattro integrates directly with Victron GX devices (Cerbo GX, Color Control GX) for full system monitoring and control. Multiple Quattro units can be configured in parallel for increased capacity, or in split-phase and three-phase arrangements where the installation demands it. Configuration and firmware updates are handled via VE.Configure software using a VE.Bus to USB interface.

Applications
- Off-grid cabins and buildings where a generator supplements a solar battery system and automatic source switching is required.
- Marine vessels with both shore power and a generator, requiring seamless changeover and battery charging from either source.
- Motorhomes and large vehicles with 24V battery systems needing mains-quality AC output and dual-source charging.
- Backup power systems for commercial or industrial premises where generator and grid inputs must both be managed.
- Multi-unit parallel installations where higher output capacity is needed beyond a single unit's rating.
What Is Included
- Victron Quattro 24/3000/70-50/50 230V VE.Bus inverter charger unit
Installation Notes
The Quattro 24/3000/70-50/50 must be installed by a qualified electrician familiar with battery-based inverter systems. At 24V with a 70A charger and 3000VA inverter output, cable sizing, fusing and battery bank capacity must be calculated correctly to ensure safe operation. Connection to a generator or grid supply must comply with current UK wiring regulations. For any grid-tied or grid-backup application in the UK, confirm compliance requirements with your DNO before commissioning. VE.Configure software and a VE.Bus to USB interface are required for full configuration; these are not included in the box.
