Description
xVictron Quattro 12/3000/120-50/50 230V VE.Bus Inverter Charger
The Victron Quattro 12/3000/120-50/50 is a combined inverter and battery charger designed for demanding off-grid, marine, and backup power installations. It accepts two separate AC inputs, making it suited to systems where both shore power and a generator are present. With a 3000VA inverter output and a 120A battery charger on a 12V system, it handles substantial loads while keeping batteries charged from whichever AC source is available.
Key Features
- Dual AC input capability allows simultaneous connection of shore power and a generator, with automatic transfer between sources.
- 3000VA continuous inverter output at 230V AC, suitable for running household and commercial loads from a 12V battery bank.
- 120A multi-stage battery charger with adaptive charge algorithm, adjusting to battery condition over time.
- Two 50A AC outputs: one with uninterrupted supply (UPS function) and one that can be switched off under low battery conditions to shed non-critical loads.
- PowerControl and PowerAssist functions limit the draw from shore power or generator, supplementing with battery power when demand exceeds the input current limit.
- VE.Bus communication interface for system integration, remote monitoring, and configuration via Victron GX devices or VEConfigure software.
- Programmable relay for generator start/stop, alarm outputs, or other system control functions.
Product Overview
The Quattro differs from a standard inverter charger by offering two independent AC inputs rather than one. In practice, this means you can wire shore power to AC-in 1 and a generator to AC-in 2. The unit monitors both and transfers automatically, with no manual switching required. This is particularly useful on boats, motorhomes, and remote installations where generator backup is part of the design.
PowerAssist is one of the more practical features for installations with a limited AC supply. If the connected load exceeds the available shore power or generator capacity, the Quattro draws the shortfall from the battery bank rather than tripping the supply. This allows a smaller generator or a restricted shore power connection to run loads that would otherwise exceed its rating. The current limit for each AC input is independently configurable.
VE.Bus connectivity means the Quattro integrates directly with Victron's wider ecosystem. It can be monitored and configured through a GX device such as the Cerbo GX, and multiple units can be connected in parallel or in three-phase configuration for larger systems. Configuration is handled via VEConfigure software, giving installers precise control over charge parameters, input current limits, and relay behaviour.

Installation Notes
The Quattro 12/3000/120-50/50 must be installed by a qualified electrician or accredited installer. AC wiring, battery cabling, and system earthing must comply with current UK wiring regulations (BS 7671). For any grid-connected or shore-power-connected installation, ensure compliance with the relevant network operator requirements. Battery connections at 12V carry very high currents at this power level; appropriately rated cabling, fusing, and busbars are essential. Configuration should be carried out using Victron's VEConfigure software by an installer familiar with the Victron VE.Bus system.
