Description
xVictron Energy Pre-Charge Cable
The Victron Energy pre-charge cable is used to safely pre-charge the internal capacitors of inverters, inverter/chargers and other DC-connected equipment before making a full battery connection. It is intended for use by installers working with Victron systems where inrush current at connection could damage equipment or cause sparking at the battery terminals.
Key Features
- Limits inrush current when connecting DC equipment to a battery bank, protecting capacitors and terminals from damage.
- Designed for use with Victron inverters, inverter/chargers and other DC-connected devices that require pre-charging before full connection.
- Compact and lightweight at 0.08 kg, making it easy to carry as part of a standard installation toolkit.
- Genuine Victron Energy accessory, manufactured to match the connection standards of Victron DC equipment.
- Simple to use: connect via the pre-charge cable first, allow capacitors to charge, then make the full battery connection safely.
Product Overview
When a large inverter or inverter/charger is connected directly to a battery bank without pre-charging, the internal capacitors draw a sudden surge of current. This inrush can cause visible sparking at the terminals, trip protection devices, and in some cases damage the input circuitry of the equipment. The pre-charge cable introduces a resistive element into the circuit that limits this surge, allowing the capacitors to charge gradually before the main connection is made.
This is a standard step in the correct installation procedure for many Victron Multiplus, Quattro and other inverter/charger products. Using this cable as part of the commissioning process is a straightforward way to protect equipment and follow best practice. It is a small but important part of any professional DC installation toolkit.

Installation Notes
This cable should be used as part of the standard commissioning procedure when connecting Victron inverters or inverter/chargers to a battery bank for the first time. Always follow Victron's installation documentation for your specific product. DC system installation, particularly at the voltages and capacities involved with inverter/charger equipment, should be carried out by a qualified electrician or experienced installer. Do not attempt high-voltage or high-capacity DC connections without appropriate training and safety precautions.
