Description
xPhoenix Inverter 48/800 230V VE.Direct IEC
The Victron Phoenix Inverter 48/800 is a pure sine wave inverter designed for off-grid and backup power applications. It converts 48V DC battery power to 230V AC at 800VA continuous output, making it suitable for professional installations in marine, vehicle, telecoms and remote power systems. VE.Direct connectivity allows monitoring and configuration without additional hardware.
Key Features
- 800VA continuous output with pure sine wave AC, suitable for sensitive electronics and motor loads.
- 48V DC input with a wide input voltage range, compatible with standard 48V lead-acid and lithium battery banks.
- VE.Direct port for direct connection to Victron monitoring devices, including the Color Control GX and BMV battery monitors.
- IEC AC output connector for straightforward, standardised wiring in professional installations.
- Integrated protections covering low battery voltage shutdown, over-temperature and overload, with automatic restart after fault clearance.
- High efficiency design minimises standby power draw, important in off-grid systems where battery capacity is finite.
- Compact and lightweight form factor relative to output rating, simplifying mounting in confined spaces.
Product Overview
The Phoenix 48/800 produces a true sine wave output, which means it is compatible with all AC load types including inductive loads such as motors, compressors and transformers, as well as sensitive electronics that would be damaged or disrupted by modified sine wave inverters. At 800VA, it is sized for single-circuit or light multi-circuit loads rather than whole-system supply, making it a practical choice for targeted backup or off-grid power in a specific zone or equipment group.
VE.Direct is Victron's serial communication interface. On this inverter, it allows connection to the Victron GX device ecosystem for remote monitoring, on/off control and data logging. This is particularly relevant in professional installations where system visibility and remote diagnostics are required. The interface does not require a separate communications module, keeping the installation straightforward.
The IEC output connector is a fixed feature of this variant, distinguishing it from the terminal block versions. This suits installations where a direct plug-in connection to an IEC lead or distribution board is preferred. The inverter includes automatic protections that shut down and restart without manual intervention, reducing maintenance requirements in remote or unattended installations.

Installation Notes
This inverter operates at 48V DC and must be connected to a correctly fused and appropriately rated DC supply. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician or accredited installer familiar with DC power systems and inverter wiring. The IEC AC output is not intended for direct connection to a building's fixed wiring without appropriate isolation and protection devices in place. This product is not grid-tied and does not require G98 or G99 notification. Ensure adequate ventilation around the unit to prevent thermal shutdown under sustained load.
