Description
xPhoenix Inverter 48/250 230V VE.Direct IEC
The Victron Phoenix Inverter 48/250 is a compact, pure sine wave inverter designed for 48V battery systems, delivering 250VA continuous output at 230V AC. It is aimed at installers and system integrators who need a reliable DC-to-AC conversion stage in off-grid, marine, vehicle or backup power applications where load demands are modest and space is limited.
Key Features
- Pure sine wave output at 230V AC, suitable for sensitive electronics and motor loads.
- 48V DC input with VE.Direct communication port for monitoring and integration with Victron GX devices and VictronConnect.
- IEC AC output connector for straightforward, standardised wiring.
- Compact and lightweight at 2.6 kg, making it practical for installations with restricted space.
- Built-in protections covering low battery voltage shutdown, overload and over-temperature, reducing the risk of damage in unattended installations.
- Configurable via VictronConnect app over Bluetooth (with optional dongle) or direct VE.Direct USB interface.
Product Overview
The Phoenix 48/250 converts 48V DC battery power to a clean 230V AC pure sine wave output. Pure sine wave output matters when powering equipment with switch-mode power supplies, variable speed motors or audio and medical devices, all of which can behave unpredictably or be damaged by modified sine wave inverters. At 250VA continuous, this unit is sized for smaller loads: lighting circuits, instrumentation, small appliances or control systems rather than high-draw equipment.
The VE.Direct port is a key practical feature. It allows the inverter to communicate with Victron's GX range of system monitors (such as the Cerbo GX), enabling remote monitoring, on/off control and data logging within a wider Victron energy system. This makes the Phoenix 48/250 a straightforward fit in any Victron-based off-grid or backup installation where a low-power AC output is needed alongside battery management and monitoring.
The IEC output socket provides a standardised connection point, keeping the installation clean and compliant. The unit's protections (low voltage, overload, over-temperature) are automatic and do not require manual reset in most cases, which is relevant for installations that run unattended for extended periods.

- Backup power for low-draw critical loads such as routers, alarm systems or instrumentation panels.
- Victron system integrations where a compact inverter output is needed alongside GX monitoring.
What Is Included
- Phoenix Inverter 48/250 230V VE.Direct IEC unit
Installation Notes
This inverter should be installed by a qualified electrician or experienced system integrator. DC connections at 48V carry significant fault current and must be fused appropriately close to the battery. The AC IEC output is not intended for direct connection to a fixed wiring installation without appropriate isolation and protection. For any installation forming part of a grid-connected or building electrical system, work must comply with BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations) and be carried out by a competent person. VE.Direct connectivity requires a compatible cable or interface adapter, sold separately.
