Description
xVictron Inverter 24/1200 230V VE.Direct IEC
The Victron Inverter 24/1200 is a pure sine wave DC-to-AC inverter designed for 24V battery systems, delivering 1200VA of continuous 230V AC output. It is suited to off-grid installations, marine and vehicle applications, and backup power setups where a reliable, monitored inverter is required. The VE.Direct communication port allows integration with Victron monitoring equipment and the GX device ecosystem.
Key Features
- 1200VA continuous output at 230V AC from a 24V DC battery bank.
- Pure sine wave output, compatible with sensitive electronics and motor loads.
- VE.Direct communication port for connection to Victron GX devices, MPPT solar chargers, and the VictronConnect app via a VE.Direct to USB or Bluetooth dongle.
- IEC AC output connector for straightforward, standardised wiring.
- Compact and lightweight design at 6.9 kg, suitable for space-constrained installations.
- Built-in protections including low battery voltage shutdown, overload protection, over-temperature protection, and short-circuit protection.
- High efficiency operation to minimise battery drain during light and moderate loads.
Product Overview
The 24/1200 sits within Victron's VE.Direct inverter range, which is designed for straightforward off-grid and backup applications where communication and monitoring are needed without the complexity of a full inverter-charger. The 24V input voltage makes it appropriate for mid-sized battery banks commonly found in narrowboats, campervans, off-grid cabins, and small commercial installations. At 1200VA, it can comfortably handle loads such as lighting circuits, small power tools, laptops, televisions, and similar equipment.
The VE.Direct port is a key practical feature. It allows the inverter to be monitored via a Victron GX device (such as the Cerbo GX) or directly from a smartphone using the VictronConnect app with a compatible interface accessory. This gives installers and end users real-time data on output power, battery voltage, and alarm conditions without needing to wire into a more complex system. The IEC output socket means the unit can be connected to standard IEC-format distribution without custom fabrication.
Pure sine wave output is important for loads that include variable-speed motors, medical equipment, or any device with a switched-mode power supply. Unlike modified sine wave inverters, the 24/1200 produces a clean waveform that will not cause overheating or interference in sensitive equipment.

Installation Notes
This inverter must be connected to a 24V DC battery bank using appropriately rated DC cabling and fusing. DC connections should be kept as short as possible to minimise voltage drop and resistive losses. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician or experienced system integrator familiar with DC power systems. For any installation forming part of a grid-connected or building fixed-wiring system, compliance with BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations) is required. The VE.Direct port requires a separate interface accessory (such as a VE.Direct to USB cable or VE.Direct Bluetooth Smart dongle) to enable monitoring via VictronConnect or a GX device; these accessories are not included.
