Description
xVictron Orion-Tr 24/12-20 (240W) Non-Isolated DC-DC Converter
The Victron Orion-Tr 24/12-20 is a non-isolated DC-DC converter that steps down a 24V supply to a regulated 12V output at up to 20A (240W). It is designed for mobile, marine and off-grid applications where two different DC voltage systems need to operate from a single battery bank or power source.
Key Features
- 24V input to 12V output conversion at up to 20A continuous, giving a maximum output of 240W.
- Non-isolated design provides efficient voltage conversion without galvanic isolation between input and output.
- Wide input voltage range accommodates real-world battery voltage fluctuations across the 24V range.
- Output voltage is adjustable, allowing fine-tuning to suit specific load requirements.
- Compact and lightweight at 0.26kg, suitable for installation in tight spaces on vehicles, vessels and off-grid enclosures.
- Fixed mounting footprint compatible with other Orion-Tr units, simplifying multi-converter installations.
- Protected against short circuit, over-temperature and over-voltage conditions.
Product Overview
The Orion-Tr range uses a synchronous buck converter topology to step down DC voltage with high efficiency. In a non-isolated converter, the input and output share a common ground reference, which is acceptable in most single-vehicle or single-vessel installations where there is no risk of ground loop issues. If galvanic isolation is required (for example, between separate battery banks on a boat with shore power), the isolated variant of the Orion-Tr should be used instead.
At 240W, this unit is well suited to powering 12V accessories, lighting circuits, control systems or secondary loads from a 24V house or traction battery. The adjustable output voltage means the converter can be set to compensate for cable voltage drop or to match the requirements of sensitive 12V equipment. The unit requires no external controller and operates autonomously once wired and configured.
The Orion-Tr 24/12-20 is part of Victron's broader Orion-Tr family, which shares a consistent form factor across different power ratings. This makes it straightforward to upgrade capacity by adding units in parallel or swapping to a higher-rated model without redesigning the installation.

What Is Included
- 1x Victron Orion-Tr 24/12-20 (240W) non-isolated DC-DC converter
Installation Notes
This is a non-isolated converter: input and output share a common ground. Verify this is appropriate for your system before installation, particularly on marine or multi-source DC systems where ground loops can cause damage or interference. Fuse the input wiring close to the source battery in accordance with the cable rating. Output voltage can be adjusted via the onboard trimmer. Installation should be carried out by a qualified 12/24V DC systems installer familiar with mobile or marine electrical standards.
