Description
xVictron Orion-Tr 24/12-10 (120W) Non-Isolated DC-DC Converter
The Victron Orion-Tr 24/12-10 is a non-isolated DC-DC converter that steps a 24V supply down to a regulated 12V output at up to 10A (120W). It is designed for use in vehicles, marine installations and off-grid systems where two different DC voltage rails need to operate from a single battery bank.
Key Features
- Converts a 24V DC input to a regulated 12V DC output at up to 10A continuous current.
- 120W continuous output power in a compact, lightweight enclosure weighing 0.26kg.
- Non-isolated design: input and output share a common ground, which suits most vehicle and marine wiring layouts.
- Wide input voltage range accommodates real-world battery voltage fluctuations above and below nominal 24V.
- Fixed output voltage with no need for external adjustment in standard 12V applications.
- Fully encapsulated for resistance to vibration, moisture and dust, making it suitable for mobile and marine environments.
- Compatible with Victron system architectures using 24V battery banks where 12V accessories must be powered directly.
Product Overview
The Orion-Tr 24/12-10 addresses a common wiring challenge: running 12V loads from a 24V battery system without a separate 12V battery. Rather than maintaining two independent battery banks, this converter draws from the 24V bank and delivers a stable 12V rail for lighting, instrumentation, communication equipment or other 12V accessories. The non-isolated topology means the negative terminals of input and output are connected internally, which simplifies installation in most vehicle and marine applications where a shared chassis ground is already in use.
At 120W continuous output, the unit handles a meaningful load without requiring active cooling or a large footprint. The fully encapsulated construction protects internal components against the vibration and humidity typical of mobile and marine installations. Because this is a non-isolated converter, it is not suitable for applications where galvanic separation between input and output is required. For those cases, Victron's isolated Orion-Tr range should be used instead.

Installation Notes
This is a non-isolated converter: the input and output negatives are connected internally. Verify that a shared ground is appropriate for your installation before fitting. Ensure input wiring is correctly fused close to the battery and that cable sizing is adequate for the input current at 24V. Installation in marine and vehicle environments should be carried out by a qualified electrician familiar with DC systems. Do not use this unit where galvanic isolation between input and output is required.
