Description
xVictron MultiPlus 48/5000/70-100 230V VE.Bus Inverter Charger
The Victron MultiPlus 48/5000/70-100 is a combined inverter and battery charger in a single unit, designed for 48V battery systems operating at 230V AC. It is suited to off-grid installations, backup power systems, and marine or vehicle applications where reliable AC output and efficient battery charging are required in one compact unit.
Key Features
- 5000VA continuous inverter output at 230V AC from a 48V DC battery bank.
- 70A battery charger built in, with adaptive charge algorithm to suit a range of battery chemistries.
- 100A transfer switch for seamless changeover between shore/generator power and inverter output.
- PowerControl function limits the load on a generator or shore supply by reducing charge current when AC loads increase.
- PowerAssist function supplements shore or generator power with battery power during peak demand, allowing a smaller AC source to support larger loads.
- VE.Bus communication interface for system integration, parallel operation, and three-phase configuration.
- Multiple units can be connected in parallel for increased capacity or configured for three-phase output.
- Compatible with Victron GX devices for full system monitoring and control via VRM portal.
Product Overview
The MultiPlus 48/5000/70-100 combines a pure sine wave inverter with a high-current battery charger. The 5000VA output is sufficient for demanding off-grid loads, and the 70A charger can handle large battery banks without requiring a separate charging unit. The 100A transfer switch connects or disconnects the AC input automatically, with a transfer time fast enough to protect most sensitive equipment.
PowerControl and PowerAssist are particularly useful where the available AC supply is limited. PowerControl prevents the MultiPlus from drawing more current than the AC source can provide, while PowerAssist allows the unit to draw additional power from the battery bank when loads temporarily exceed what the AC source can deliver. This makes it practical to run high-draw appliances on a modest generator or restricted shore supply.
VE.Bus connectivity allows multiple MultiPlus units to be paralleled for higher output, or configured in split-phase or three-phase arrangements. Integration with Victron GX devices (such as the Cerbo GX) provides full monitoring, remote access, and system control through the VRM online portal.

What Is Included
- 1 x Victron MultiPlus 48/5000/70-100 230V VE.Bus inverter charger unit.
Installation Notes
The MultiPlus 48/5000/70-100 must be installed by a qualified electrician familiar with battery-based inverter systems. At 48V and 5000VA, the DC cabling, fusing, and battery connections must be correctly rated for the high currents involved. For any grid-connected or generator-connected application in the UK, ensure compliance with the relevant wiring regulations and, where applicable, G98 or G99 requirements. VE.Bus configuration for parallel or three-phase operation requires Victron configuration software (VEConfigure) and should only be carried out by a trained Victron installer.
