Description
xVictron MultiPlus 48/1200/13-16 230V VE.Bus Inverter Charger
The Victron MultiPlus 48/1200/13-16 is a combined inverter and battery charger in a single unit, designed for 48V battery systems operating at 230V AC. It is suited to off-grid installations, backup power systems, and mobile or marine applications where a compact, reliable inverter charger is required. The VE.Bus interface allows integration with other Victron equipment and system monitoring solutions.
Key Features
- Combined inverter and charger in one unit: 1200VA continuous inverter output with a 13A battery charger built in.
- 48V DC input with 230V AC output, suitable for larger off-grid and backup battery banks.
- 16A AC current passthrough allows connection to a shore power or generator source, with automatic transfer switching.
- VE.Bus communication port enables parallel and three-phase configuration with other compatible Victron MultiPlus units.
- PowerAssist function supplements AC input with inverter power when load demand exceeds the available shore or generator supply.
- Adaptive charging algorithm adjusts charge profile based on battery usage history to optimise battery life.
- Virtually no transfer time when switching from mains to inverter, making it suitable for sensitive loads.
Product Overview
The MultiPlus 48/1200/13-16 combines a 1200VA pure sine wave inverter with a 13A multi-stage battery charger. The 48V input voltage makes it appropriate for systems where a higher-voltage battery bank is used to reduce cable losses and improve efficiency over longer cable runs. The 230V AC output is compatible with standard UK and European appliances and loads.
The PowerAssist feature is particularly useful in installations where the available AC supply (from a generator or shore power connection) is limited. When load demand exceeds what the AC input can supply, the unit draws the deficit from the battery bank, preventing generator overload or tripped breakers. The automatic transfer switch has a near-instantaneous changeover, which protects computers, inverters and other electronics that are sensitive to supply interruptions.
VE.Bus connectivity allows this unit to be configured in parallel with additional MultiPlus units to increase output capacity, or in a split-phase or three-phase arrangement. It is also compatible with Victron's GX monitoring devices, Venus OS, and the VictronConnect and VEConfigure software tools for commissioning and remote monitoring.

What Is Included
- 1 x Victron MultiPlus 48/1200/13-16 230V VE.Bus inverter charger unit
Installation Notes
Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician or accredited installer with experience in battery-based inverter systems. The unit must be connected to an appropriately rated 48V DC battery bank with correctly sized DC cabling and fusing. For any installation involving connection to the public grid or a grid-tied system, compliance with G98 or G99 requirements (as applicable) and notification to the local Distribution Network Operator is required. Battery chemistry compatibility should be confirmed and the charge profile configured accordingly using VEConfigure or VictronConnect before commissioning.
