Description
xVictron MultiPlus 24/800/16-16 230V VE.Bus Inverter Charger
The Victron MultiPlus 24/800/16-16 is a combined inverter and battery charger in a single unit, designed for 24V battery systems with a 230V AC output. It is suited to off-grid installations, marine and vehicle applications, and backup power systems where a compact, reliable inverter charger is required.
Key Features
- 800VA continuous inverter output at 230V AC from a 24V DC battery bank.
- 16A battery charger built in, with adaptive charge algorithm to extend battery life.
- 16A AC transfer switch allows connection of a shore power or generator input, with near-instant transfer to inverter on power loss.
- PowerAssist function supplements shore or generator power with battery power to prevent overload on a limited AC supply.
- VE.Bus communication port for system integration, remote monitoring and configuration via Victron GX devices or VE.Bus Smart Dongle.
- Multiple units can be connected in parallel or configured for split-phase operation using VE.Bus.
- Compatible with a wide range of battery chemistries including lead-acid (flooded, gel, AGM) and lithium, with configurable charge parameters.
Product Overview
The MultiPlus 24/800/16-16 combines three functions: DC to AC inversion, AC battery charging, and AC transfer switching. When an external AC source such as a generator or shore power is present, the unit passes power through to connected loads and simultaneously charges the battery bank. When the AC source is lost or disconnected, the transfer switch activates in under 20 milliseconds, maintaining supply to critical loads without interruption.
The PowerAssist feature is particularly useful in installations where the available AC supply is limited, for example a small generator or a restricted shore power connection. The MultiPlus monitors the incoming current and, when loads approach the input current limit, draws the shortfall from the battery rather than tripping the supply. This allows a smaller generator to run loads that would otherwise exceed its rated output.
VE.Bus connectivity means the MultiPlus integrates directly with Victron GX devices such as the Cerbo GX, enabling full system monitoring, remote configuration and data logging via the VRM portal. The unit can also be configured and updated using the VEConfigure software tool over a VE.Bus to USB interface.

Installation Notes
The MultiPlus should be installed by a qualified electrician or accredited installer with experience in DC battery systems and 230V AC wiring. Correct DC cable sizing and fusing between the battery bank and the unit is critical given the high DC currents involved at 24V. For any grid-connected or generator-connected installation, ensure compliance with applicable UK wiring regulations. VE.Bus configuration requires the VEConfigure software and a VE.Bus to USB interface cable, or a compatible Victron GX device.
