Description
xVictron Energy Isolation Transformer 2500W 115/230V
The Victron Energy Isolation Transformer 2500W provides galvanic isolation between shore power and a vessel or vehicle's onboard electrical system. It is designed for marine, mobile and off-grid installations where eliminating earth leakage currents and protecting against galvanic corrosion is a priority. Rated at 2500W with dual voltage compatibility (115V and 230V), it suits a wide range of AC shore power inputs.
Key Features
- 2500W continuous power rating, suitable for moderate onboard AC loads.
- Dual voltage input/output: 115V and 230V, allowing use across different shore power standards.
- Provides galvanic isolation to prevent corrosion caused by stray earth currents in marina environments.
- Breaks the direct electrical connection between shore earth and vessel hull, reducing electrolytic corrosion risk.
- Compact and robust construction with a unit weight of 12.11 kg, suitable for permanent installation in a dedicated enclosure or bulkhead mounting.
- Compatible with Victron shore power and inverter/charger systems for integrated AC distribution.
Product Overview
An isolation transformer works by magnetically coupling the shore power supply to the onboard AC system without a direct electrical connection. This breaks the galvanic circuit that would otherwise form between a vessel's metal hull, the shore earth conductor, and other vessels or structures in the water. In marina environments, this stray current path is a well-documented cause of accelerated corrosion on propellers, shafts, and hull fittings.
The 115/230V dual voltage capability means the transformer can accept either North American 115V shore supplies or European 230V supplies, making it practical for vessels that travel between different regions or marinas with mixed infrastructure. At 2500W, it covers typical onboard loads including battery chargers, air conditioning units, galley appliances, and general AC distribution panels.
The unit is a passive device with no active electronics, which keeps maintenance requirements low. It should be installed as close to the shore power inlet as practical, upstream of the main AC distribution panel, to ensure the entire onboard system benefits from isolation.

What Is Included
- 1x Victron Energy Isolation Transformer 2500W 115/230V
Installation Notes
This transformer handles mains AC voltages and must be installed by a qualified electrician or marine electrical engineer. In the UK, shore power installations on vessels should comply with BS EN ISO 13297 and relevant marina electrical standards. The unit should be mounted in a dry, ventilated location and secured to prevent movement. Ensure the installation is carried out with appropriate circuit protection upstream and downstream of the transformer. Do not attempt installation without the correct qualifications and tools for working on mains AC systems.
