Description
xVictron Inverter Compact 24/1600 230V VE.Bus
The Victron Inverter Compact 24/1600 is a 1600VA pure sine wave inverter designed for 24V DC battery systems, producing a 230V AC output. It is built for off-grid installations, marine and vehicle applications, and backup power setups where a compact form factor and reliable AC output are required. The VE.Bus interface enables integration with other Victron components for system monitoring and control.
Key Features
- 1600VA continuous output from a 24V DC input, delivering 230V AC pure sine wave power suitable for sensitive electronics and motor loads.
- VE.Bus communication port allows connection to Victron system components including the Color Control GX, Venus GX and compatible monitoring devices.
- Compact physical design reduces installation footprint compared to standard inverter models, making it suitable for space-constrained installations.
- Pure sine wave output matches grid-quality AC, making it compatible with a wide range of appliances including inductive loads such as pumps and compressors.
- Victron's proven inverter topology provides stable output under varying load conditions, from light standby loads to near-full rated capacity.
- Weighs 10 kg, balancing portability with the build quality expected in a professional-grade inverter.
Product Overview
The Compact 24/1600 sits within Victron's established inverter range, sharing the VE.Bus architecture used across their MultiPlus and Quattro product lines. VE.Bus is a proprietary communication protocol that allows multiple Victron devices to communicate over a single cable, enabling system-level configuration, remote monitoring and, where applicable, parallel or three-phase operation with compatible units. For installers already working within a Victron ecosystem, this makes integration straightforward.
The 24V input voltage is well suited to larger off-grid battery banks where a 24V nominal system is preferred over 12V, reducing cable losses and allowing more practical wire sizing at higher current draws. At 1600VA, the inverter can handle a meaningful range of AC loads including lighting circuits, small power tools, refrigeration and entertainment systems, depending on the battery bank capacity available.
As a standalone inverter (not a charger-inverter or hybrid), this unit is intended for systems where battery charging is handled separately, for example by a dedicated MPPT solar charge controller and battery charger. This keeps the installation modular and allows each component to be sized independently for the application.

Applications
- Off-grid cabins and remote buildings where mains power is unavailable and a 24V battery bank supplies stored solar or generator energy.
- Marine installations requiring 230V AC output from a 24V DC vessel electrical system.
- Vehicle conversions including motorhomes and expedition vehicles with 24V leisure battery systems.
- Backup power systems for critical loads in commercial or agricultural premises.
- Modular off-grid systems where inverter and charging functions are handled by separate, independently sized components.
What Is Included
- Victron Inverter Compact 24/1600 230V VE.Bus unit
Installation Notes
This inverter should be installed by a qualified electrician or experienced off-grid systems installer. DC connections at 24V involve high current levels that require correctly rated cabling, fusing and terminal connections. The VE.Bus port requires compatible Victron interface hardware for configuration and monitoring. This unit is a standalone inverter and does not include battery charging functionality. It is not intended for direct grid connection and does not require G98 or G99 compliance notification. Ensure the battery bank is appropriately sized for the intended load and that ventilation around the unit meets Victron's installation requirements.
