Description
xVictron Inverter Compact 12/1600 230V VE.Bus
The Victron Inverter Compact 12/1600 is a 12V DC to 230V AC pure sine wave inverter rated at 1600VA, designed for off-grid, marine, vehicle and backup power applications. It connects via VE.Bus, allowing integration with Victron's wider ecosystem of monitoring and control devices. This model suits professional installers specifying a compact, bus-connected inverter for mobile or fixed off-grid installations.
Key Features
- 1600VA continuous output at 230V AC from a 12V DC battery bank
- Pure sine wave output suitable for sensitive electronics and motor loads
- VE.Bus communication port for integration with Victron MultiPlus, Quattro, Color Control GX and other compatible devices
- Compact form factor with a weight of 10 kg, suited to space-constrained installations
- Victron's proven inverter protection: over-temperature, overload, low battery voltage shutdown and short-circuit protection
- SKU: CIN122160000 | GTIN: 8719076065043
Product Overview
The Compact 12/1600 sits within Victron's inverter-only range, meaning it converts DC battery power to AC mains voltage but does not include a built-in charger. This makes it appropriate where a separate charger is already in place or where charging is handled by solar via an MPPT controller. The 12V input voltage is well matched to single-battery-bank systems commonly found in boats, campervans, vehicles and small off-grid cabins.
VE.Bus connectivity is a key differentiator in this range. Unlike simpler inverters with no communication capability, the VE.Bus interface allows the unit to be monitored and configured remotely using a GX device or the VictronConnect app via a suitable interface. This is particularly useful in professional installations where system visibility and fault diagnostics are required without physical access to the unit.
The pure sine wave output means the inverter is compatible with the full range of AC loads, including inductive loads such as motors and compressors, as well as sensitive electronics that would be adversely affected by a modified sine wave supply. At 1600VA, the unit can handle a meaningful range of domestic and light commercial loads in an off-grid context.

- Victron system expansions requiring a VE.Bus-compatible inverter
What Is Included
- Victron Inverter Compact 12/1600 230V VE.Bus unit
Installation Notes
This inverter operates at 12V DC and must be connected to an appropriately rated battery bank with correctly sized DC cabling and fusing. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician or experienced Victron installer. The AC output must not be connected to the grid. VE.Bus configuration requires a compatible Victron GX device or MK3-USB interface. Ensure adequate ventilation around the unit to prevent thermal shutdown under sustained load.
