Description
xVictron Inverter 48/500 230V VE.Direct IEC
The Victron Inverter 48/500 is a compact 500VA pure sine wave inverter designed for 48V DC battery systems, converting stored energy to 230V AC output. It is aimed at off-grid installers, marine and vehicle applications, and small standalone power systems where a reliable, lightweight inverter is required. The VE.Direct communication port allows direct integration with Victron monitoring equipment and system controllers.
Key Features
- 500VA continuous output at 230V AC from a 48V DC battery bank.
- Pure sine wave output suitable for sensitive electronics and motor loads.
- VE.Direct communication port for connection to Victron BMV battery monitors, Color Control GX, and other compatible Victron devices.
- IEC AC output socket for straightforward appliance connection without additional wiring.
- Compact and lightweight at 4.1 kg, suited to space-constrained installations.
- Built-in protections including low battery voltage shutdown, over-temperature, and overload protection.
- SKU: PIN481501100 | GTIN: 8719076056829
Product Overview
The 48/500 sits at the entry level of Victron's VE.Direct inverter range. The 48V input voltage makes it appropriate for larger off-grid battery banks where higher voltage reduces cable losses and improves system efficiency at low power levels. At 500VA, it is suited to powering lighting circuits, small appliances, routers, charging equipment, and similar loads rather than high-draw devices such as kettles or power tools.
The VE.Direct port is a key practical feature for professional installations. It allows the inverter to communicate with Victron's GX devices and monitoring platforms, enabling remote on/off control, real-time power data, and integration into a wider Victron system. This makes the 48/500 a practical choice where monitoring and remote management are required, even at low power levels.
The IEC output socket means the unit can accept standard IEC leads directly, which simplifies installation in panel or enclosure builds. The inverter produces a true sine wave output, which is important for loads that are sensitive to waveform quality, including variable-speed motors, medical equipment, and modern electronics with switch-mode power supplies.

What Is Included
- Victron Inverter 48/500 230V VE.Direct IEC unit
Installation Notes
This inverter operates at 48V DC and must be connected to a correctly fused and rated DC supply. DC wiring should be sized appropriately for the current draw at 48V. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician or experienced off-grid installer. The unit is not grid-tied and does not require G98 or G99 notification. Ensure adequate ventilation around the unit to prevent thermal shutdown under sustained load. VE.Direct cable and GX device are not included and must be sourced separately if monitoring integration is required.
