Description
xVictron Inverter 48/1200 230V VE.Direct IEC
The Victron Inverter 48/1200 is a pure sine wave inverter designed for 48V battery systems, converting DC power to 230V AC at 1200VA continuous output. It is suited to off-grid installations, marine and vehicle applications, and backup power setups where a reliable, compact inverter is required. The VE.Direct communication port allows direct integration with Victron monitoring equipment and system controllers.
Key Features
- 1200VA continuous output at 230V AC from a 48V DC battery bank.
- Pure sine wave output, compatible with sensitive electronics and motor loads.
- VE.Direct communication port for connection to Victron GX devices, MPPT controllers and monitoring systems.
- IEC AC output connector for straightforward wiring to standard European and UK loads.
- Compact and lightweight design at 6.9 kg, suitable for space-constrained installations.
- Built-in protections including low battery voltage shutdown, overload protection and over-temperature shutdown.
Product Overview
The 48/1200 operates on a 48V nominal battery input, which is the preferred voltage for larger off-grid and backup systems due to lower DC current draw at equivalent power levels. At 1200VA, it can handle a range of AC loads including lighting, small appliances, power tools and communications equipment. The pure sine wave output means it is not restricted to resistive loads and will run inductive loads such as motors and compressors without issue.
The VE.Direct interface is a key practical feature for professional installations. It allows the inverter to communicate with Victron's Color Control GX, Cerbo GX and other system monitors, enabling remote monitoring, data logging and integration into a wider Victron Energy system. This makes the 48/1200 a practical choice where system visibility and control are required, not just standalone power conversion.
The IEC output format is standard for European and UK installations and simplifies connection to distribution boards and load circuits. The unit's protection features, including automatic shutdown on low battery, overload and over-temperature, reduce the risk of damage to both the inverter and connected loads in fault conditions.

Installation Notes
This inverter operates at 48V DC and should be installed by a qualified electrician familiar with DC battery systems and AC wiring. DC cable sizing must be appropriate for the current draw at 48V to avoid voltage drop and heat build-up. Ensure the battery bank is adequately rated for the inverter's peak demand. For any installation forming part of a grid-connected or building electrical system, work must comply with BS 7671 and be carried out by a competent person. VE.Direct connection requires a compatible Victron GX device or VE.Direct to USB interface for monitoring.
