Description
xVictron Inverter 48/500 230V VE.Direct SCHUKO
The Victron Inverter 48/500 is a compact 500VA pure sine wave inverter designed for 48V DC battery systems, converting stored energy to 230V AC output via a SCHUKO socket. It is suited to off-grid installations, mobile applications and backup power setups where a reliable, low-power AC supply is needed from a 48V battery bank.
Key Features
- 500VA continuous output from a 48V DC input, delivering 230V AC pure sine wave power.
- VE.Direct communication port for monitoring and integration with Victron GX devices and the VictronConnect app.
- SCHUKO output socket for direct connection of standard European AC loads.
- Compact and lightweight design at 4.1 kg, suitable for space-constrained installations.
- Built-in protections covering low battery voltage shutdown, overload and over-temperature.
- Compatible with VictronConnect for configuration and real-time monitoring via Bluetooth or VE.Direct USB interface.
Product Overview
The 48/500 sits at the entry level of Victron's VE.Direct inverter range. It accepts a 48V nominal battery input and produces a clean 230V AC sine wave output, making it compatible with sensitive electronics and standard household appliances within its power rating. The SCHUKO socket means it can be connected directly to a load without additional wiring to a distribution board, which simplifies installation in smaller systems.
The VE.Direct port is the key communication feature on this unit. It allows the inverter to be connected to a Victron Cerbo GX or other GX device for system-level monitoring, or to a laptop or phone via a VE.Direct to USB cable and the VictronConnect app. This gives installers visibility of operating state, input voltage and any fault conditions without needing to be physically present at the unit.
At 500VA, this inverter is appropriate for powering individual loads such as lighting circuits, small tools, charging equipment or low-draw appliances. It is not intended for high-current loads such as kettles, immersion heaters or motor-start applications. Sizing the load correctly against the inverter's continuous rating is essential for reliable long-term operation.

Applications
- Off-grid cabins and outbuildings with a 48V battery bank requiring a small AC supply.
- Marine and narrowboat installations where a 48V DC system is in use and occasional 230V AC output is needed.
- Backup power for low-draw equipment such as routers, lighting or communications devices.
- Mobile and vehicle-based systems (vans, trucks) running a 48V house battery.
- Small solar storage systems where a single AC outlet is sufficient for the application.
What Is Included
- Victron Inverter 48/500 230V VE.Direct SCHUKO unit
Installation Notes
This inverter connects directly to a 48V DC battery bank. DC cable sizing and fusing must be appropriate for the current draw at 48V. Although the SCHUKO output allows direct plug-in use, installation into a fixed system should be carried out by a qualified electrician. This unit is not grid-connected and does not require G98 or G99 notification. VE.Direct accessories such as a USB interface cable are sold separately and are required for use with VictronConnect on a PC or Mac.
