Description
xVictron Inverter 24/500 230V VE.Direct SCHUKO
The Victron Inverter 24/500 is a compact DC to AC inverter designed for 24V battery systems, delivering 500VA of continuous 230V AC output via a SCHUKO socket. It is suited to off-grid installations, vehicles, boats and backup power applications where a reliable, monitored AC supply is needed from a 24V battery bank.
Key Features
- 500VA continuous AC output at 230V from a 24V DC input, with a built-in SCHUKO outlet for direct appliance connection.
- VE.Direct communication port allows monitoring and configuration via a GX device, the VictronConnect app or a VE.Direct to USB interface.
- Pure sine wave output suitable for sensitive electronics, motors and appliances that require a clean AC waveform.
- Low idle power consumption reduces unnecessary battery drain when running light or no loads.
- Integrated protections include low battery voltage shutdown, overload protection and over-temperature shutdown.
- Compact and lightweight form factor at 4 kg, making it practical for mobile and space-constrained installations.
Product Overview
The 24/500 sits at the entry level of Victron's VE.Direct inverter range. It converts 24V DC battery power to 230V AC sine wave output, making it usable with standard European and UK appliances via its SCHUKO socket. The VE.Direct port is a key practical feature: it allows the inverter to be integrated into a wider Victron monitoring system without additional wiring complexity, and enables real-time data such as input voltage, output load and alarm status to be read remotely.
The pure sine wave output is important for loads that are sensitive to waveform quality, including variable-speed motors, battery chargers and medical or audio equipment. Modified sine wave inverters can cause problems with such devices; the 24/500 avoids this. The inverter's protection circuits handle common fault conditions automatically, shutting down safely on low battery, overload or high temperature, and recovering once the fault condition clears.
At 500VA, this inverter is appropriate for powering individual appliances or small loads rather than whole-system supply. Typical applications include lighting circuits, small power tools, laptops, televisions and similar consumer electronics in off-grid or mobile environments.

- Campervans and motorhomes needing a compact inverter for laptops, televisions or small kitchen appliances.
- Backup power for critical low-wattage loads such as routers, lighting or communications equipment.
- Part of a larger Victron system where VE.Direct monitoring integration is required.
What Is Included
- Victron Inverter 24/500 230V VE.Direct SCHUKO unit
Installation Notes
This inverter must be connected to a 24V DC battery system. DC cable sizing and fusing must be appropriate for the current draw at full load; undersized cabling is a fire risk. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician or competent person familiar with DC power systems. The unit is not grid-connected and does not require G98 or G99 notification. Ensure adequate ventilation around the unit to prevent thermal shutdown under sustained load. The SCHUKO outlet is a European standard socket; a suitable adaptor may be required for UK BS1363 plugs.
