Description
xVictron Inverter 24/1600 230V Smart
The Victron Inverter 24/1600 230V Smart is a pure sine wave inverter designed for off-grid and battery-backed power systems operating from a 24V DC battery bank. It converts 24V DC to 230V AC at 1600VA continuous output, making it suitable for professional installations in vehicles, boats, off-grid cabins and backup power applications. Bluetooth connectivity via the VictronConnect app allows configuration and monitoring without additional hardware.
Key Features
- 1600VA continuous output at 230V AC from a 24V DC battery bank
- Pure sine wave output suitable for sensitive electronics and motor loads
- Built-in Bluetooth for configuration and monitoring via the VictronConnect app on iOS and Android
- Compact and robust aluminium housing with a weight of 12.4 kg
- Programmable relay for generator start, alarm or load-shedding functions
- Overload, over-temperature and low battery voltage protection built in
- Compatible with the Victron GX ecosystem for integration into larger off-grid or backup systems
Product Overview
The 24/1600 Smart sits in Victron's standalone inverter range, intended for systems where a combined inverter/charger is not required. The 24V input voltage is well suited to medium-capacity battery banks, offering a practical balance between cable sizing and available current draw. At 1600VA, the unit can handle a broad range of AC loads including lighting, small appliances, power tools and pumps, provided the battery bank is sized appropriately for the load duration.
The "Smart" designation indicates onboard Bluetooth, which connects directly to the VictronConnect app. This allows engineers and installers to read real-time data, adjust protection thresholds, configure the programmable relay and update firmware without needing a separate interface cable or display. For installations that require remote monitoring, the inverter can also be connected to a Victron GX device such as a Cerbo GX, enabling full integration into the VRM online portal.
Victron's pure sine wave output maintains compatibility with inductive loads such as motors and compressors, as well as sensitive electronics that would be damaged or disrupted by modified sine wave output. The inverter includes automatic shutdown on low battery voltage, overload and over-temperature, protecting both the unit and the connected battery bank.

Installation Notes
This inverter operates at voltages and currents that present a serious risk of injury or fire if incorrectly installed. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician or accredited installer familiar with DC battery systems and 230V AC wiring. DC cable sizing must account for the high current draw at 24V under full load. Ensure the battery bank is protected by an appropriately rated fuse or circuit breaker as close to the battery terminals as practicable. This is a standalone inverter and does not include a battery charger. It is not designed for direct grid connection and does not require G98 or G99 compliance notification.
