Description
xVictron Inverter 12/500 230V VE.Direct SCHUKO
The Victron Inverter 12/500 is a compact 500VA pure sine wave inverter designed to convert 12V DC battery power to 230V AC. It is suited to off-grid installations, vehicles, boats and backup power applications where a reliable AC supply is needed from a 12V battery bank. The SCHUKO output socket makes it ready to use with standard European plugs without additional wiring.
Key Features
- 500VA continuous output power from a 12V DC input
- Pure sine wave output at 230V AC, compatible with sensitive electronics and motor loads
- SCHUKO socket fitted as standard, providing a plug-and-use AC outlet
- VE.Direct port for monitoring and configuration via Victron's GX devices or VictronConnect app
- Built-in protections covering low battery shutdown, over-temperature and overload
- Compact and lightweight form factor at 4.1 kg, suitable for space-constrained installations
Product Overview
The 12/500 sits at the entry level of Victron's VE.Direct inverter range. It takes 12V DC from a battery and produces a clean 230V AC sine wave output, which means it can safely power equipment that would be damaged or disrupted by a modified sine wave signal. This includes variable-speed tools, medical devices, audio equipment and most modern electronics with switch-mode power supplies.
The VE.Direct interface is a key practical feature for professional installations. It allows the inverter to communicate with Victron GX devices (such as the Cerbo GX) for system monitoring, and it can be configured or monitored directly from a smartphone or laptop using the VictronConnect app over a VE.Direct to USB or Bluetooth dongle. This makes it straightforward to integrate into a wider Victron system without additional hardware beyond the interface cable.
The built-in protection suite handles the most common field conditions: the inverter will shut down cleanly on low battery voltage to protect the battery bank, cut out on overload, and throttle or shut down if internal temperatures exceed safe limits. These protections are automatic and do not require manual intervention.

Installation Notes
This inverter connects directly to a 12V DC battery bank. DC cable sizing and fusing must be appropriate for the current draw at 500VA output. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician or experienced installer. The unit is not grid-connected and does not require G98 or G99 notification, but any fixed wiring on the AC output side must comply with BS 7671 wiring regulations. Ensure adequate ventilation around the unit to allow the thermal protection to operate correctly.
