Description
xVictron Inverter 12/250 230V VE.Direct IEC
The Victron Inverter 12/250 is a compact 250VA pure sine wave inverter designed to convert 12V DC battery power to 230V AC. It is suited to small off-grid loads, mobile installations and backup applications where a lightweight, reliable inverter is needed without the complexity of a full inverter/charger.
Key Features
- 250VA continuous output at 230V AC from a 12V DC battery bank
- Pure sine wave output compatible with sensitive electronics and inductive loads
- VE.Direct port for monitoring and configuration via Victron GX devices or the VictronConnect app
- IEC socket output for direct appliance connection without additional wiring
- Compact and lightweight at 2.6 kg, suitable for space-constrained installations
- Built-in protection against low battery voltage, overload and over-temperature
Product Overview
The 12/250 sits at the entry level of Victron's VE.Direct inverter range. At 250VA, it is not intended for high-draw appliances, but it handles small continuous loads such as LED lighting, phone and laptop charging, small fans and low-power tools effectively. The pure sine wave output means it will not cause issues with switch-mode power supplies or motors that a modified sine wave inverter might.
The VE.Direct interface sets this unit apart from basic inverters. It allows integration with Victron's monitoring ecosystem, including the Cerbo GX and Color Control GX, giving installers and end users visibility of inverter status, load and fault conditions through the VRM portal. This makes it a practical choice for small off-grid systems where monitoring is still required.
The IEC output socket allows direct connection of standard IEC-fitted appliances. Protection circuits cover low battery cutoff, overload shutdown and thermal protection, all of which reset automatically once the fault condition clears.

What Is Included
- Victron Inverter 12/250 230V VE.Direct IEC unit
Installation Notes
This inverter connects directly to a 12V DC battery bank. DC cable sizing and fusing must be appropriate for the current draw at full load. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician or experienced installer. The unit is not grid-connected and does not require G98 or G99 notification, but all AC wiring from the IEC output must comply with current UK wiring regulations (BS 7671).
