Description
xVictron EasySolar 12/1600/70-16 230V MPPT 100/50
The Victron EasySolar 12/1600/70-16 is an all-in-one solar inverter charger designed for 12V off-grid and self-consumption systems. It combines a 1600VA inverter, a 70A multi-stage battery charger, and a 100/50 MPPT solar charge controller into a single wall-mounted unit. This makes it well suited to compact off-grid installations, leisure vehicles, boats, and small home storage systems where space and wiring complexity need to be minimised.
Key Features
- Integrated 1600VA/1400W pure sine wave inverter, 70A battery charger, and MPPT 100/50 solar charge controller in one enclosure.
- MPPT 100/50 charge controller accepts up to 100V open-circuit solar input and delivers up to 50A charge current to the battery.
- 12V battery system voltage with a 70A multi-stage charger supporting lead-acid and lithium battery chemistries.
- 230V AC output suitable for standard UK and European loads.
- Built-in PowerControl and PowerAssist functions to limit shore or generator power draw and supplement from battery when needed.
- Compatible with Victron's VE.Bus and VE.Direct communication protocols for monitoring and system integration.
- Wall-mountable compact form factor reduces installation footprint compared to separate component systems.
Product Overview
The EasySolar 12/1600/70-16 integrates three core components that would otherwise require separate wiring, fusing, and mounting. The MPPT 100/50 charge controller handles solar input up to 100V Voc, making it compatible with small series-connected panel strings. The 50A maximum charge current from solar, combined with the 70A AC charger, means the battery can be charged from both sources simultaneously when available.
PowerControl allows the unit to limit the total current drawn from a shore power or generator supply, preventing overload of a limited AC source. PowerAssist extends this by drawing additional power from the battery to support loads that briefly exceed the available AC input. These functions are particularly useful in marina berths, campsites, or generator-backed off-grid cabins where the AC supply is constrained.
The unit communicates via VE.Bus, allowing connection to a Victron Color Control GX or Cerbo GX for full system monitoring. A VE.Direct port is also present for direct connection to compatible Victron monitoring devices. The single-enclosure design simplifies installation but the unit still requires correct DC cabling, fusing, and earthing to be carried out by a competent installer.

Installation Notes
The EasySolar 12/1600/70-16 must be installed by a competent electrician or qualified marine/off-grid systems installer. DC cabling between the unit and the battery bank must be correctly sized and fused in accordance with the system design. The unit is not intended for connection to the UK public grid (G98/G99) and should only be used in off-grid or self-contained AC systems. If lithium batteries are used, ensure the battery management system is compatible with Victron charge profiles before commissioning. Adequate ventilation must be provided around the unit to prevent thermal issues during sustained operation.
