Description
xVictron Cyrix-ct 12/24V 230A Intelligent Battery Combiner
The Victron Cyrix-ct is a microprocessor-controlled battery combiner designed for 12V and 24V systems carrying up to 230A continuous current. It automatically connects battery banks when one is being charged and disconnects them when charging stops, protecting the starter or primary battery from discharge. It is suited to marine, vehicle and off-grid installations where two separate battery banks need to be managed without manual intervention.
Key Features
- Rated for 12V and 24V DC systems with a continuous current capacity of 230A.
- Microprocessor-controlled logic connects batteries when voltage rises above a set threshold and disconnects when it falls, preventing unwanted discharge of the starter or house bank.
- Solid-state design with no moving parts, eliminating the mechanical wear associated with traditional solenoid combiners.
- Automatic voltage detection distinguishes between 12V and 24V systems without manual configuration.
- Compact and lightweight at 0.3 kg, suitable for installation in confined spaces on vehicles, boats and off-grid setups.
- Compatible with all charging sources including alternators, solar charge controllers and shore power chargers, as it responds to voltage rather than charge source type.
Product Overview
The Cyrix-ct operates by monitoring battery voltage. When the voltage on either battery bank rises to a level indicating active charging (13.7V on a 12V system or 27.4V on a 24V system), the unit connects the two banks in parallel so both receive charge. When the voltage drops below the disconnect threshold, the banks are separated. This prevents a depleted auxiliary bank from draining the starter battery, which is a common failure point in dual-battery installations.
Unlike diode-based battery isolators, the Cyrix-ct introduces no voltage drop between the alternator and the batteries. This means batteries receive the full charge voltage, which matters particularly for AGM and lithium batteries that require precise charge voltages to reach full capacity. The "ct" designation indicates the unit is intended for use with a common positive terminal arrangement, making it straightforward to wire into most standard dual-battery configurations.
The microprocessor also includes a load detection algorithm. If a large load is switched on and causes a voltage rise that could be mistaken for a charging event, the unit applies a short delay before connecting, reducing the risk of false triggering. This makes it more reliable in real-world installations where voltage fluctuations are common.

What Is Included
- 1 x Victron Cyrix-ct 12/24V 230A intelligent battery combiner
Installation Notes
The Cyrix-ct should be installed by a competent electrician or qualified auto-electrical engineer familiar with dual-battery systems. Correct fusing of both battery connections is essential before installation. Ensure cable sizing is appropriate for the 230A continuous rating. The unit is not suitable for use with 48V systems. For lithium battery installations, verify that the charge voltage thresholds of the Cyrix-ct are compatible with the battery management system in use before connecting.
