Description
xVictron BlueSolar PWM-Light Charge Controller 12/24V 5A
The Victron BlueSolar PWM-Light is a compact, entry-level PWM solar charge controller rated at 5A for 12V and 24V battery systems. It is designed for small off-grid applications where simplicity and low cost are the priority. Automatic voltage detection means no manual configuration is required for 12V or 24V systems.
Key Features
- 5A charge current rating, compatible with 12V and 24V battery systems.
- Automatic 12V/24V battery voltage detection on startup, no manual selection required.
- PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) charge algorithm extends battery life by reducing stress during the absorption and float phases.
- Ultra-compact and lightweight at 0.13 kg, suitable for space-constrained installations.
- Load output with low-voltage disconnect to protect the battery from over-discharge.
- LED indicators for charge status and load output status.
Product Overview
PWM charge controllers work by directly connecting the solar panel to the battery during bulk charging, then switching the panel connection on and off rapidly to maintain the target voltage during absorption and float. This keeps the battery fully conditioned without the complexity or cost of MPPT technology. For small systems where the panel voltage closely matches the battery voltage, PWM is a practical and cost-effective approach.
The BlueSolar PWM-Light is the stripped-back variant in Victron's PWM range. It omits the VE.Direct communication port and advanced programmability found on the Pro models, keeping the unit simple and affordable. The built-in load output with low-voltage disconnect is a useful feature at this price point, allowing a small DC load such as lighting to be connected and automatically disconnected if the battery voltage drops too low.
At 0.13 kg and with a compact footprint, this controller is well suited to portable setups, caravans, small cabins, or any application where a lightweight, no-fuss charge controller is needed alongside a single small panel.

Installation Notes
This controller is intended for small, low-voltage DC systems and should be installed by a competent person familiar with 12V and 24V solar wiring. Ensure the solar panel open-circuit voltage and short-circuit current are within the controller's rated limits before connecting. Correct fusing of all cables is essential. For any installation forming part of a larger or grid-connected system, a qualified electrician or MCS-accredited installer should be engaged.
