Description
xVictron Argofet 200-3 Battery Isolator, Three Batteries, 200A
The Victron Argofet 200-3 is a FET-based battery isolator designed to charge up to three separate battery banks simultaneously from a single alternator or charger, with no voltage drop penalty. It is suited to marine, vehicle and off-grid applications where independent battery banks must be kept isolated from one another while sharing a common charge source.
Key Features
- Charges three independent battery banks from a single input, with full isolation between banks so a fault or discharge on one bank cannot affect the others.
- FET (Field Effect Transistor) technology eliminates the 0.6V to 0.7V voltage drop associated with conventional diode isolators, ensuring batteries receive the full charge voltage.
- 200A continuous current rating handles high-capacity alternators and multi-bank systems without derating.
- Automatic alternator voltage sensing allows the unit to compensate the alternator output voltage, maintaining correct charge levels across all banks.
- Compact, aluminium construction with integrated heat sink for passive cooling, requiring no fan or active thermal management.
- Compatible with standard 12V and 24V systems, making it suitable for a wide range of vehicles, vessels and off-grid installations.
- Weight: 1.37 kg, making it straightforward to mount in engine bays, battery compartments or distribution panels.
Product Overview
Conventional diode-based battery isolators introduce a voltage drop of around 0.6V to 0.7V on every charge path. Over a long charge cycle, this means batteries never reach their full charge voltage, which shortens battery life and reduces usable capacity. The Argofet 200-3 uses MOSFET switching to eliminate this drop entirely, so each battery bank receives the same voltage the alternator or charger is producing.
The unit supports three output banks at up to 200A total input current. Each output is fully isolated from the others: if one bank develops a fault or is deeply discharged, it cannot pull down the voltage on the remaining banks. This is particularly important in marine and commercial vehicle applications where a starter battery must remain protected from auxiliary or domestic loads.
The Argofet 200-3 includes an alternator voltage sense connection. When connected, this allows the alternator's internal regulator to see the actual battery voltage rather than the voltage at the alternator terminal, correcting for any cable resistance and ensuring the regulator does not under-charge the batteries. This feature is especially relevant when long cable runs are involved.

Installation Notes
Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician or marine electrical engineer familiar with high-current DC systems. The unit must be mounted in a well-ventilated location and secured to a surface capable of supporting its weight and the mechanical load of heavy cable connections. Ensure all cable sizing is appropriate for 200A continuous current and that suitable fusing is fitted on the input and each output. For alternator voltage sensing, connect the sense wire directly to the alternator's sense terminal as described in the Victron wiring documentation. Do not install in enclosed spaces without adequate airflow around the heat sink.
