Description
xAnti-Islanding Box 63A Single and Three Phase
The Victron Anti-Islanding Box 63A is a grid protection device for single and three phase solar PV installations. It disconnects the inverter from the grid during a grid fault or outage, preventing the inverter from feeding power into a de-energised network. This is a mandatory safety requirement for grid-connected systems in the UK and across much of the EU.
Key Features
- Rated at 63A, suitable for single phase and three phase grid-connected PV systems.
- Prevents inverter islanding by automatically disconnecting from the grid during a fault or outage.
- Designed to meet grid protection requirements for UK and EU grid-tied installations.
- Compatible with Victron inverter and inverter/charger systems in grid-connected configurations.
- Housed in an enclosure suitable for installation in a distribution board or dedicated enclosure.
- Supports compliance with grid disconnection requirements under standards such as G98 and G99 (UK).
Product Overview
Anti-islanding protection is a legal and safety requirement for any inverter connected to the public grid. When the grid goes down, an inverter without this protection could continue to energise the local network, creating a serious hazard for utility workers and equipment. The Victron Anti-Islanding Box 63A provides automatic disconnection to prevent this, and reconnects once the grid is restored and stable.
The 63A rating makes this unit appropriate for both single phase residential and light commercial systems, as well as three phase installations up to the rated current. Its compatibility with single and three phase configurations in a single unit reduces the need for separate devices across different installation types.
For UK grid-connected installations, G98 and G99 compliance requires that inverters include appropriate anti-islanding protection. This device supports that requirement when installed as part of a correctly configured system. Always verify the full compliance requirements with your DNO and a qualified installer before commissioning.

Installation Notes
This device must be installed by a qualified electrician familiar with grid-connected PV systems and current UK wiring regulations. For grid-tied installations in the UK, compliance with G98 or G99 is required and the installation must be notified to the relevant Distribution Network Operator (DNO). Verify all grid protection requirements with your DNO before installation. Do not attempt DIY installation on any grid-connected electrical system.
