Description
xVE.Can to CAN-bus BMS Type B Cable 5 m
The VE.Can to CAN-bus BMS Type B Cable connects Victron devices with a VE.Can port to compatible CAN-bus BMS battery management systems using the Type B protocol. At 5 metres in length, it gives installers practical routing flexibility in battery cabinets, van conversions, marine installations and off-grid enclosures.
Key Features
- Connects VE.Can-equipped Victron devices to CAN-bus BMS batteries using the Type B communication protocol.
- 5 metre cable length provides flexibility for installations where the BMS and inverter or MPPT are not in close proximity.
- Pre-terminated with the correct connectors at each end, requiring no additional crimping or wiring.
- Victron SKU ASS030720150, compatible with the VE.Can interface found on Victron MultiPlus-II GX, Quattro, Cerbo GX and other GX-series devices.
- Lightweight at 0.22 kg, suitable for weight-sensitive installations such as marine and vehicle builds.
Product Overview
CAN-bus communication between a battery BMS and an inverter/charger or GX device allows the BMS to pass real-time data including state of charge, cell voltages, charge and discharge limits, and alarm states. This enables the Victron system to respond dynamically to battery conditions rather than relying on fixed charge parameters. The Type B cable variant is required for BMS units that use the CAN-bus Type B pinout, which differs from Type A in connector wiring. Using the wrong cable type will result in no communication, so confirming the BMS manufacturer's CAN-bus type before ordering is essential.
The 5 m length is the longer of the standard options Victron offers for this cable, making it the appropriate choice where the battery bank and the GX device or inverter are mounted in separate locations. CAN-bus is a differential signalling protocol and is generally tolerant of cable runs at this length, provided the bus is correctly terminated at both ends as required by the system design.

Installation Notes
Before installation, confirm that your BMS uses the CAN-bus Type B pinout. Connecting a Type B cable to a Type A BMS port will not establish communication and may cause issues depending on the hardware involved. CAN-bus networks require correct termination at both ends of the bus; refer to your BMS and Victron device documentation to confirm termination requirements for your specific system topology. Installation within a solar PV or battery storage system should be carried out by a qualified electrician or accredited installer familiar with Victron equipment.
