Description
xVE.Bus BMS to BMS 12-200 Alternator Control Cable
This cable connects the Victron VE.Bus BMS to the BMS 12-200, enabling the BMS to control alternator charging directly. It is designed for use in 12V lithium battery systems where the VE.Bus BMS manages cell protection and the BMS 12-200 acts as the alternator-side charge controller. Without this cable, the two units cannot communicate to coordinate charge cutoff.
Key Features
- Dedicated control cable linking the VE.Bus BMS to the BMS 12-200 alternator charger controller.
- Allows the VE.Bus BMS to signal the BMS 12-200 to stop alternator charging when battery protection thresholds are reached.
- Plug-and-play connection with no additional wiring or configuration required.
- Lightweight at 0.11 kg, suitable for compact marine and vehicle installations.
- SKU ASS030510120, compatible with Victron VE.Bus BMS and BMS 12-200 units.
Product Overview
The VE.Bus BMS monitors individual lithium cell voltages and temperatures, and will disconnect loads or charging sources when a cell goes out of range. The BMS 12-200 is Victron's dedicated alternator charge controller for lithium batteries, designed to handle the high current demands of vehicle and marine alternators without damaging the alternator or the battery. This cable is the physical communication link between the two devices, allowing the VE.Bus BMS to assert charge disconnect control over the BMS 12-200.
In practice, this means that if the VE.Bus BMS detects an overvoltage or overtemperature condition on any cell, it can instruct the BMS 12-200 to reduce or stop alternator input before the battery protection relay opens. This protects both the alternator and the lithium cells. The cable is a required accessory for any system that combines these two Victron components.

Installation Notes
This cable should be installed as part of a complete Victron lithium battery system by a qualified electrician or experienced system integrator familiar with Victron BMS architecture. Ensure both the VE.Bus BMS and BMS 12-200 are correctly configured before connecting this cable. Incorrect wiring in a lithium battery system can result in uncontrolled charging or cell damage. Always follow Victron's system design guidelines for lithium installations.
