Description
xMEGA Fuse 400A/80V (Pack of 5)
The Victron MEGA fuse 400A/80V is a high-current blade-style fuse designed to protect battery cables and DC wiring in solar, off-grid and marine electrical systems. Sold in a pack of five, it is suited to professional installers who need reliable overcurrent protection at 400A continuous rating with an 80V DC voltage rating.
Key Features
- 400A continuous current rating for high-load DC circuits.
- 80V DC voltage rating, compatible with 12V, 24V and 48V battery systems.
- MEGA blade fuse format, compatible with standard MEGA fuseholders.
- Pack of 5 fuses, providing spares for commissioning and ongoing maintenance.
- Designed for use in battery protection, inverter input and high-current DC distribution applications.
- Lightweight construction at 45g per pack, minimising additional load in compact installations.
Product Overview
MEGA fuses are a widely used format in DC electrical protection, particularly in battery-based systems where high fault currents can cause rapid cable damage or fire risk. The 400A rating makes this fuse appropriate for large inverter installations, battery banks and high-current DC busbars where standard ANL or blade fuses would be undersized.
The 80V DC voltage rating covers all common battery voltages used in off-grid and marine systems, including 12V, 24V and 48V configurations. It is important to select a fuse with a voltage rating at or above the system voltage to ensure the fuse can safely interrupt fault current without arcing. This fuse meets that requirement across the full range of typical Victron system voltages.
Victron specifies MEGA fuses for use with their MEGA fuseholders, which are sold separately. The fuse is a consumable component and should be replaced after any overcurrent event. Keeping a pack of five on site means replacements are available during commissioning or in the event of a fault.

Installation Notes
MEGA fuses must be installed in a compatible MEGA fuseholder (sold separately). Always isolate the battery bank before replacing or installing fuses. Fuse selection should be based on cable rating and system design, not solely on inverter or load current draw. For battery systems above 48V or in grid-connected installations, a qualified electrician or MCS-accredited installer should carry out all wiring and protection work. Never bypass or replace a blown fuse with a higher-rated fuse without first identifying and resolving the cause of the overcurrent event.
