Description
xSolar Adapter Cable MC4 Male to MC3 Female 15cm
This short adapter cable converts an MC4 male connector to an MC3 female connector, allowing MC4-terminated solar panels or cables to connect to older MC3-compatible equipment. It is a practical solution for mixed-connector installations where MC4 and MC3 components need to interface without replacing existing wiring.
Key Features
- MC4 male connector on one end, MC3 female connector on the other, enabling direct MC4-to-MC3 interfacing.
- Cable length of 15cm keeps the adapter compact and tidy within a junction box or panel array.
- Supplied by Victron Energy, manufactured to consistent quality standards for solar DC wiring applications.
- Lightweight at 35g, adding negligible weight to any installation.
- SKU SCA500100000 for straightforward ordering and stock management.
Product Overview
MC4 connectors are the current standard for solar panel wiring, while MC3 connectors were widely used in earlier installations and on some legacy charge controllers and combiner boxes. Where these two systems meet, a direct connection is not possible without an adapter. This cable bridges that gap cleanly, with a 15cm length that is long enough to make the connection without creating excess slack.
The male MC4 end accepts the female MC4 connector found on most modern solar panels and extension cables. The female MC3 end plugs into the male MC3 output of older equipment. This orientation is fixed, so confirm the connector genders on your specific components before ordering.

Installation Notes
Verify the connector gender and type on both the panel side and the equipment side before installation. MC4 and MC3 connectors are not interchangeable without an adapter, and incorrect pairing can result in poor contact or damage. Solar DC wiring carries live voltage whenever panels are exposed to light. All wiring work should be carried out by a qualified electrician or accredited solar installer. For grid-connected systems, ensure compliance with G98 or G99 requirements as applicable.
