Description
xSolar Adapter Cable MC4 Female to MC3 Male 15cm
This short adapter cable converts an MC4 female connector to an MC3 male connector, allowing solar panels or cables terminated in MC4 to connect to MC3-compatible charge controllers, junction boxes or existing wiring. It is a practical solution for installers working with mixed-connector systems or legacy equipment.
Key Features
- MC4 female input to MC3 male output, 15cm cable length
- Enables direct connection between MC4 and MC3 solar connector systems without additional tools or crimping
- Compact 15cm length minimises excess cable in tight enclosures or junction boxes
- Supplied by Victron Energy, manufactured to solar cable standards for outdoor PV use
- Lightweight at 35g, suitable for permanent installation in panel arrays or combiner boxes
Product Overview
MC4 and MC3 connectors are not directly compatible, and mismatched connector types are a common issue when integrating newer panels with older charge controllers or when extending existing MC3-based systems. This adapter cable bridges that gap without requiring re-termination or additional connector hardware.
At 15cm, the cable is designed for short-reach connections rather than cable runs. It is best used at the point of connection between a panel lead and a controller input, or within a combiner box where space is limited. The MC4 female end accepts a standard MC4 male plug from a panel or extension cable, while the MC3 male end plugs directly into an MC3 female socket on the receiving equipment.

Installation Notes
This adapter is intended for use in low-voltage DC solar PV circuits. Ensure the cable and connectors are rated for the voltage and current of your system before installation. Solar PV wiring should be carried out by a qualified electrician or accredited installer. Do not use this adapter in applications that exceed the connector ratings, and ensure all connections are fully seated and weatherproofed where exposed to the elements.
