Description
xVictron Inverter 48/1600 230V VE.Direct SCHUKO
The Victron Inverter 48/1600 converts a 48 V battery supply into 230 V 50 Hz AC. It delivers 1,450 W continuous at 25 °C and up to 2,100 W peak through a Schuko (CEE 7/4) outlet socket. The VE.Direct port lets installers monitor and configure it.
Key Features
- Continuous output of 1,450 W at 25 °C and 1,300 W at 40 °C, with a peak rating of 2,100 W.
- 48 V nominal battery input with a DC input range of 36.8 V to 62 V.
- Eco mode cuts zero load power from 15 W to 3 W. The stop and start power setting is adjustable and the retry interval is 2.5 s.
- Dynamic low DC shutdown is supported, alongside a fixed low shutdown at 37.2 V and a low restart and alarm level of 43.6 V.
- VE.Direct communication port. All settings are programmable.
- Two pole screw terminal for remote on/off switching.
- Protection against output short circuit, overload, high battery voltage, low battery voltage, over temperature and excessive DC ripple.
- Rated operating temperature range of minus 40 °C to plus 65 °C, with a maximum humidity of 95 %.
- Maximum efficiency of 92 %.
Product Overview
This is a stand alone battery inverter. It draws from a 48 V bank and supplies 230 V AC loads through a built in Schuko socket. The continuous rating falls from 1,450 W at 25 °C to 1,300 W at 40 °C. If the unit will sit in a warm plant room, cabinet or vehicle compartment, size the load against the 40 °C figure. The 2,100 W peak rating covers short inrush currents from motors, compressors and power tools.
Standby consumption matters on battery systems that run for long periods with little load. At zero load the inverter draws 15 W, which comes to roughly 360 Wh a day. In eco mode the draw drops to 3 W. The inverter checks for a load every 2.5 s and starts full output once demand passes the adjustable threshold. Set that threshold just under the smallest load you expect to run, so devices such as phone chargers still get power.
The low voltage thresholds protect the battery. Shutdown is at 37.2 V, and the inverter restarts and clears the alarm at 43.6 V. Dynamic low DC shutdown lets the cut off point take account of load, so the inverter does not trip early from voltage sag under heavy draw. You can adjust the thresholds over VE.Direct to suit the battery chemistry in use. Please note that the AC outlet is a Schuko (CEE 7/4) socket, not a UK BS 1363 socket.

Applications
- 48 V off-grid systems that need a 230 V supply for small appliances, lighting and electronics.
- Vehicle and specialist vehicle installations with a 48 V battery bank. The unit holds ECE R10-4 automotive approval.
- Remote cabins, telecoms sites and equipment shelters where eco mode keeps battery drain low between loads.
- Dedicated AC circuits from an existing 48 V solar battery bank, kept separate from the main inverter.
- Installations for EU customers, or equipment that uses Schuko (CEE 7/4) plugs.
Installation Notes
Only connect this inverter to a 48 V nominal battery system. The battery terminals accept cable up to 25 mm² (4 AWG). DC cable and fusing should be sized by the installer for the full load and peak current. The enclosure is rated IP21, so mount it indoors in a dry, ventilated location. Allow for output derating at higher ambient temperatures. Set the low voltage thresholds over VE.Direct to match the battery chemistry. Battery and AC wiring should be installed by a qualified electrician, and any connection to solar PV or a wider system should be carried out by a qualified or MCS-accredited installer. The AC output is a Schuko socket, so any UK fixed wiring arrangement must be designed and installed by a competent person.
