Description
xVolta Precision Crimping Tool 2.5–10mm² for MC4 Solar Connectors
The Volta precision crimping tool handles cable sizes from 2.5mm² to 10mm² and is designed for MC4 and MC4-compatible solar connectors. A precision ratchet mechanism with 1.2 tonnes of crimping force ensures a complete, consistent crimp on every connection. The ratchet will not release until the cycle is complete, preventing partial crimps.
Key Features
- Compatible with cable sizes: 2.5mm², 4mm², 6mm² and 10mm² (AWG 14/12/10/8)
- Precision ratchet mechanism: releases only when crimp is complete
- 1.2 tonnes of crimping force with minimal hand effort
- Magnetic locator for precise terminal positioning
- Emergency release function if the tool jams mid-cycle
- Ergonomic anti-slip handle
- Length: 215mm / Weight: 0.70kg
Product Overview
The ratchet mechanism is the key feature on a quality crimping tool. It locks the handles together and only releases when the die has completed its full travel, which means every crimp is made to the same depth regardless of hand strength or fatigue. A partial crimp is one of the most common causes of MC4 connection failure in the field, particularly on 10mm² cables where more force is required.
The magnetic locator holds the terminal in the correct position in the die before crimping, which prevents misalignment when working at height or in awkward positions on a rooftop.

- Solar PV cable termination on residential and commercial installations
- Field assembly of extension cables for 2.5mm² to 10mm² solar cable
